Agrigento roundup

The Valley of the Temples wasn't the only area I visited in Agrigento. Being a hilltop town there are vistas of the countryside. In the morning, before visiting the temples, I climbed to the top of the hill, partly because I wanted to get a breakfast at a cafe there.

A feature of this countryside are the many highways on concrete flyovers. Must provide a lot of work for road engineers.

At the top of the hill is the Cattedrale di San Gerlando.

A panorama of the countryside.

Fast forward a few hours and after the visit to the Valley I had a splurge lunch at a recommended Agrigento restaurant where I had seafood pasta. In the background is a side of caponata. The main ingredient is eggplant but other vegetables feature.

Sometime later I had a snack of a cannolo. I found the ricotta cream a bit too sweet for my taste, but maybe it was this particular shop.

Another shot of the Camilleri statue, watching the main street.

One last shot and then it was time to turn in as it was a cold night.
